On the 23rd of February, Daisy competed at the English Age Group Championships in weightlifting, having qualified in December for a placing at the competition. In Daisy’s words, “a large room was set up with two lifting platforms to accommodate all athletes”. Overall in her category, there were 14 other girls who she competed against to qualify for the next stage in the competition which is ‘The British Championships’ in October 2019.
Daisy had to attempt 6 lifts in total, 3 lifts known as the ‘snatch’ and 3 clean and jerk lifts with ascending weights that Daisy could pick according to her ability. Daisy ended up hitting 5/6 lifts with a combined total of 88kg to qualify for the British Championships which will be held in October. Daisy is currently sitting in 5th position in the country which I know she is really happy with.
A huge well done to Daisy and good luck at The British Championships.
