On Friday 12th February, a week after the national event, KS3 students supported the NSPCC’s Number Day and got involved in some extraordinarily fun-filled activities in their maths lessons in a bid to raise the profile of the NSPCC.
Amongst the many things, students were tasked with trying to identify teachers’ favourite numbers and their reasons for this. In another activity, they had to use data collected from the maths faculty and analyse it in order to draw a picture of what the average maths teacher looks like.
Students and staff were fundraising all week guessing the number of jelly beans in the jar, guessing the weight of the cake, competing in a mathematical quiz and bake sales at break time. The winner of the cake competition was Ms Saunders and the winner of the jelly bean competition was Daisy Thomas in Y7.
We’ve raised nearly £140 and it was great to see so many students getting involved and supporting such an invaluable charity.
