The Brunts Academy has this week received £8582.90 from the Big Lottery Fund. This grant is going to be used to purchase equipment and clothing for students to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Led by staff and volunteers from the school, the project has over 80 students recruited to take part in Bronze and Silver awards beginning with a Taster Day in December.
Mr Atkin, Headteacher, said “We are thrilled to have received the support of the Big Lottery Fund. This is excellent news which will enable a greater number of students to access this excellent opportunity.”
The award is internationally recognised and gives students the opportunity to develop new skills, builds confidence and self-esteem, shows dedication and gives those who have completed it an edge over others.
