On Thursday 21st January, bands from the Brunts Academy took to the stage at the Academy’s Community Arts Theatre. A full sound and lighting rig, complete with dry ice, ensured that the students and audience experienced a professional showcase of their talents.
Students from all years took part including drummers, guitarists, keyboard players, brass players and singers. Some of the older students, who played songs by the Keiser Chiefs, The Killers and Green Day amongst others, started their musical careers as beginners in year 7. Two Post 16 students will be leaving the academy in the summer to study music at some of the country’s top universities and conservatoires.
David Cooke, Head of Creative Performing Events, said of the event “The students were fantastic and should all be proud – true professionals – and a great evening! A huge thank you to everyone who was involved”.
