The Brunts Academy hosted the school ‘Future Chef’ heats on 12th October. 10 students from Years 8 – 11 competed for two places to go onto the local finals in the nationally run competition. The students were to prepare and serve one dish in one hour to a panel of four judges, who critiqued the dishes on a wide criteria ranging from knife skills, kitchen organisation, presentation and of course taste.
The Judging panel was made up of Brunts’ Headteacher Mr O’Malley and Assistant Head Mr Davies as well as two host judges from West Notts Collage catering course, Joanne Wilson and Neil Wilson.
The two winning contestants were Archie Waugh who cooked a Thai Green Curry and Georgia Walker who made Spicy Chicken Fajitas. Both students will now continue onto the next round of heats which will be held at a local venue where they will compete against students from other schools.
All ten students involved in the school heats at The Brunts Academy did exceptionally well, the standard of food was exceptional and they did a fantastic job of representing the Academy in this competition.
